V.Ships Leisure is to take on the crew management for the world’s first fast ferry fitted with dual natural gas engines.
The newly built ‘Eleanor Roosevelt’, to be operated by Spanish ferry company Balearia, also includes a number of features aimed at optimising passenger experience, such as a spacious interior design with enhanced room between seats, and a modern stabilisation system, designed to considerably reduce movement.
Vibrations and noise will also be minimised thanks to an elastically floating superstructure and the installation of enhanced insulation. The vessel will also feature an escalator and a lift to the upper deck, which is claimed to be unprecedented on this type of vessel.
Luca Fanciulli, V.Ships Leisure Managing Director, said; “We are delighted to welcome ‘Eleanor Roosevelt’ under our wing in March.
“Since 2016, our crewing team in Monaco, lead by planning manager Sabrina Simonazzi, has built an excellent relationship with Balearia, and currently provides crewing services to 11 vessels.
“The addition of ‘Eleanor Roosevelt’ will further develop the service provided by V.Ships Leisure,” he said.
The fast ferry will have a maximum speed of 40 knots, a capacity for 1,200 pax and space for 500 metres of trucks and 250 cars, on the vehicle deck.
At 123 m in length and 28 m wide, she is the world’s longest fast ferry.
