The Swedish Competition Authority has approved Gotlandsbolaget and Viking Line’s plan to jointly develop a cruise business.
They had earlier announced the forming of a joint company to develop and offer cruises utilising ‘Birka Stockholm’ between Stockholm/Mariehamn and Stockholm/Mariehamn/Visby.
The business transaction’s completion and the start-up of the new joint venture were contingent on the approval of the competition authority, which on 23rd August, 2023 decided to take no action, which means that the deal can proceed according to plan.
