Danish ferry and logistics company, DFDS is the preferred bidder for a 15-year contract to provide freight and passenger services to Jersey, Channel Islands, starting on 28th March, 2025.

This award, if consummated, will expand the company’s presence in the English Channel, where DFDS already operates two routes between Dover, Calais and Dunkirk and also between Newhaven and Dieppe.
The specific details regarding DFDS’s plans for services, the schedule and the vessels will be provided within the next two weeks, the company said.
As a part of the planning process, DFDS will work together with the local authorities, business organisations, ports and local communities in Jersey to optimise the service and provide a comfortable and efficient travel experience.
DFDS will also work closely with local authorities and the current operator to ensure a smooth transition.
Earlier, the Channel Island of Guernsey had awarded Brittany Ferries/Condor the ferry concession contract between the UK and the island.
Local sources expressed surprise at the splitting up of the concessions, questioning if there was enough traffic volume for two operators in the region.
