Swedish ship designer, OSK Design has been chosen by Compagnie Tunisienne de Navigation (COTUNAV) to design its new ropax and ro-ro fleet.

This collaboration will enhance Tunisia’s maritime fleet with vessels that prioritise reliability, efficiency, and environmental sustainability, OSK said.

The company also said that it will build on its experience with ferry operators, such as Algerian Ferries, Moby, TT Line, DFDS, P&O, Molslijnen, KiwiRail, Irish Ferries, Gotlandsbolaget and others.

OSK’s experience with ferries operating in the challenging waters of the Mediterranean and North Africa enables it to deliver designs that ensure exceptional performance, manoeuvrability, and long-term operational success, the company claimed.

The new designs will focus on reliability, with advanced machinery and redundant systems to ensure continuous operation even in challenging maritime environments.

Both vessels will also be optimised for superior seakeeping and handling, ensuring safe and efficient operation in a wide range of conditions.

Flexibility is another key feature, as the designs will allow the vessels to adapt to evolving market demands and regulatory changes over time.

Environmental sustainability is also a top priority, with energy-efficient technologies and eco-friendly solutions to minimise emissions and reduce the vessels’ overall environmental footprint.

Advanced technologies will further enhance performance, lower operating costs, and support the long-term sustainability of the vessels.
