The Board of Directors of The World, Residences at Sea, the largest privately owned residential mega yacht, has appointed Jessica Hoppe as Interim CEO, effective 4th April, 2024.

This followed the departure of former CEO, Tom Wolber who has left the organisation for personal reasons.

Hoppe now oversees the company, which maintains personnel in its Fort Lauderdale, Florida corporate office and on board the ship.

The Board asked Hoppe, who was previously ’The World’s’ Chief Administrative Officer & General Counsel, to assume the role of interim CEO, due to her proven hands-on leadership and insightful understanding of the ship’s operations and organisational governance.

She joined the company in February, 2022 as General Counsel and Vice President of Strategic Alignment and was promoted to Chief Administrative Officer & General Counsel in August, 2023.

“I am extremely honoured and privileged to step into this important role at ’The World’,” she said.

“With the full support of our shoreside and shipboard senior leadership teams we are strongly positioned to undertake our key strategic initiatives and prepare for the vessel’s drydock in 2025.

“This is a very exciting time at ’The World’ and I look forward to the ship’s continued success,” she added.

Prior to joining ’The World’, Hoppe served as General Counsel and Senior Vice President for Crystal Cruises in Miami, Florida.

At Genting Americas in New York and Miami, Florida, she served as General Counsel, Secretary and Senior Vice President of Governmental Affairs. She also held positions with Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in New York, New York and Balch & Bingham, in Gulfport, Mississippi and Birmingham, Alabama.
