NYK Line and NYK Cruises have signed a business partnership with Oriental Land (OLC), operator of Tokyo Disneyland.
This concerns OLC’s Japan-based cruise services, which the company aims to launch in 2028 with Disney Cruises.
As part of the agreement, the three companies will discuss the following, regarding OLC’s cruise business development:
- Consulting for the cruise business.
- Management of the cruise ships and their operations.
OLC and the NYK Group will work together towards providing family entertainment cruise experiences by combining the former’s expertise through its theme park and hotel operations, and the NYK Group’s cruise operations and safety technology in operating its Asuka cruise business.
OLC had already agreed a licensing agreement with Disney for its new cruise business.
A $2 bill cruise ship will be utilised able to accommodate up to 4,000 pax, which will sail from ports around the Tokyo Bay area.
Disney Cruise Line will operate 13 ships by 2031, once its newbuilding programme is complete.
