CMI Ship Management has established the CMI Crew Training Academy in partnership with Simwave’s Maritime Centres of Excellence.
Jim Barreiro de Leon, CMI President & CEO and Marcel Kind, CEO & Founder of Simwave have opened a bespoke, turnkey solution for CMI’s crew training needs, they claimed.
“We used this non-operational period to focus on many initiatives, rethinking our overall human resources strategy and in particular our training needs,” Barreiro de Leon, explained.
“It became evident that providing ongoing training, particularly during these unprecedented times, is essential to ensure our valued colleagues on board remained engaged and employed within our managed fleet.” he said.
“Simwave is a strategic maritime training partner for a quality management company, such as CMI Ship Management,” Kind added.
“CMI is unique and specialised in its field, it made perfect sense to team up with a partner who can custom-build specific training needs to meet its varied services to different clientelle, and we are best-positioned to do this.
“Through our learning management system & competency management system, we build a bespoke specialised hybrid training program for all levels in CMI,” he said.
Both Barreiro de Leon and Kind agreed that establishing and developing this partnership allows CMI to grow to meet the increased demand for quality crew for its fleet.
CMI provides a one-stop management solution for passenger vessels, offering full technical management services for deck, engine, and hotel maintenance.
With expertise in compliance, port & itinerary planning, crewing, procurement, asset management, insurance placement, claims management, finance and drydocking & project management, CMI claimed that it embraces the client’s business with a personalised approach to shipmanagement and a customer service level parallel to none.
