Miray Cruises has announced the introduction of a newer and larger cruise ship for its Life at Sea cruises – a voyage lasting for three years.
Called ‘Lara’, and believed to be the former ‘AIDAvita’, she was acquired due to the the overwhelming demand received from the initial launch of Life at Sea Cruises, the cruise ship operator claimed.
‘Gemini’ (pictured), the former cruise ship that launched Life at Sea Cruises, will continue her Aegean Sea voyages.
While larger than ‘Gemini’, ‘Lara’ will still maintain an intimate feel and experience for the residents on board who are looking to create a like-minded community at sea for the three-year voyage, Miray said.
Residents will experience a neighbourhood-type feel on board ‘Lara’ and indulge in a sense of community and belonging during the three-year trip.
“We are beyond excited to introduce the beautiful ‘Lara’ for this incredible, history-making, three-year voyage,” said Kendra Holmes, Miray Cruises CEO.
“Our fleet is expanding due to the unprecedented demand for our long-duration circumnavigation voyages to responsibly explore every corner of our planet.
“Our residents are changing their lives for this opportunity, and we are honoured to be a part of their personal journeys,” Holmes said.
The newer vessel will offer Life at Sea Cruises residents redesigned staterooms, a business centre with offices, a cigar and wine bar, along with other creative offerings.
There will also be a 24-hour on-call hospital on board with complimentary medical visits, learning and enrichment lectures, and opportunities to engage in volunteer and philanthropic initiatives.
During the three-year journey, the 42,000 gt vessel will cover over 130,000 miles, calling at 382 ports, on seven continents, and in 148 countries.
“Seeing such an overwhelming interest in our itinerary and unique ports where we will always be in summer is truly thrilling,” Ethem Bayramoglu, Miray Cruises’ COO added.
“This is evidence of the allure of our extended world cruise concept and the exceptional experiences that await our residents on board ‘Lara’.”
The world’s first three-year cruise includes an itinerary created by Robert Dixon that encompasses 13 of the Wonders of the World, UNESCO World Heritage sites, as well as other locations. At each port of call, travellers will be able to enjoy multiple days of unhurried exploration and the freedom to embark on their own adventures.
“As the world turns around the sun to create years, Miray Cruises will turn around the world to create a lifetime of memories. Let’s do it together!” said Fuat Guven, Vice President of Hotel Operations, Miray Cruises.
Prior to her inaugural departure from Istanbul on 1st November, 2023, Miray Cruises will be hosting a series of welcoming events in Turkey for all booked residents, which coincides with the 100th anniversary celebrations of the foundation of the Turkish Republic.
