Some of the World’s largest Cruise ships are protected from fire by being fitted with Marioff’s HI-FOG water mist system, acting as the primary firefighting system utilised on board.
To increase safety standards on board and to ensure that new joiners and experienced crew members have the basic and advanced skills and competences to meet ship safety standards, Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL) signed an agreement for crew training by HI-FOG in August, 2024.
Hands-on and classroom training modules are dependent on ship size, the HI-FOG system installed and type of training module and vary from between one to six days per ship.
Based on the SMS familiarisation requirement (under IMO ISM 6.5), Marioff offers tailored HI-FOG crew training with the following objectives:
- HI-FOG familiarisation
- HI-FOG emergency response
- HI-FOG Lifecycle maintenance.
The familiarisation training course focusses on crew members who need to know and identify the HI-FOG components and understand its features.
Emergency response training focusses on crew members who need to be able to safely operate the equipment, supervise and perform emergency response.
Lifecycle maintenance training is for crew members who need to plan the maintenance of the high-pressure water mist system.
The target groups are: fire patrol teams, galley teams, engine ratings, deck ratings and officers.
