Through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Heinemann Americas, Gebr Heinemann is to manage 14 retail venues on Royal Caribbean’s ‘Icon of the Seas’.
The first ship in the cruise line’s new ‘Icon’ class, she is scheduled to start sailing from Miami in January, 2024.
The retail venues will be located across four decks and will offer bespoke displays and installations to enhance the shopping experience.
These will include a wide range of products, including perfume and cosmetics, liquor, tobacco and confectionery, watches and jewelry, fashion apparel, and accessories.
Nicolas Hoeborn, Heinemann Americas Managing Director, said: “It’s great that we can further expand our trusting partnership with Royal Caribbean. We look forward to making ‘Icon of the Seas’ another flagship of our activities.
“We bring more than 140 years of logistics and retail experience to the American cruise market and are determined to delight passengers on the world’s largest luxury liner with our spectacular range and an unforgettable shopping experience,” he said.
Following the ‘Wonder of the Seas’, ‘Odyssey of the Seas’ and ‘Independence of the Seas’, the ‘Icon of the Seas’ will be the fourth ship that RCL has awarded the retail management to Gebr Heinemann. This was preceded by a tender in 2019.
Gebr Heinemann is involved in a broad base of the cruise and ferry sectors. As a wholesaler, the company supplies 16 ferry companies, mainly in Northern Europe. The company is also a retailer on board 19 cruise ships and supplies 240 cruise ships and ferries in total.
