‘Exploris One’, ex ‘Silver Explorer’, embarked upon her maiden voyage for her new operator, Exploris Expeditions and Cruises, on 23rd December sailing from Valparaiso to the Antarctic.

Before re-entering service, the small 132-pax expedition type cruise ship underwent a refurbishment programme at a Chilean shipyard.

While operating for charterer Noble Caledonian, her capacity will be limited to 120 pax.

Exploris was set up for French speaking guests in late 2022 by ex PONANT co-founder, Philippe Videau, who is now the President of the fledgling cruise ship operator.

Under the Silversea banner, she was originally designed for operations in Polar waters and is ice classed. She is scheduled to call in Antarctica, the Amazon, Atlantic Islands, Western Europe and the Arctic.

In addition to purchasing the ‘Silver Explorer’ from Silversea, the company said it will build a series of expedition ships in the future.
