Genoa-based cruise ship interior designer, De Wave Group has finalised the acquisition of equipment manufacturer, Inoxking.
Inoxking supplies stainless steel products for the cruise ship catering market, including galley and refrigeration equipment and is based in Vazzola (Treviso).
The company has been working with De Wave for many years and has an annual turnover of €10.4 mill, has an 18,000 sq m factory of which 8,000 sq m is covered and employs around 70 persons.
De Wave Group’s, Riccardo Pompili (pictured), said:”Today’s operation confirms our willingness to progressively expand the range of products made available to our partners.
“In recent months, we have obtained important orders for the construction of the ships for which we have the knowhow and expertise, as well as a network of partners that is able to follow all the design and executive phases.
“The entry of Inoxking will therefore allow us to create new synergies further improving our capacity and efficiency productivity,” he said.
De Wave recently worked on the refurbishment of Norwegian Cruise Line’s (NCL) ‘Norwegian Joy’ which was drydocked at Damen Shipyard in Rotterdam.
This project was to elevate the luxury standard, with the construction of 24 new cabins, the addition of canvas in all balcony suites, and the extension of two owner suites, De Wave said.
The workload entailed demanding pre-docking activity, and the use of specific tools. In particular, the loading of wet units on board was achieved through the use of a platform designed together with NCL in order to optimise the installation timing on board.
The level of technical and engineering competences needed underscored De Wave Group’s ability to handle highly complex ship refitting activities, the company claimed.
