The CEOs of Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH), Carnival and Royal Caribbean have made a direct appeal to replace the US Government’s phased-in approach to sailings from US ports.
A meeting was held with the White House COVID response team on 16th April, according to a report on CNBC.
The CEOs stressed that cruises could restart by requiring vaccinations for all passenger.
CNBC said that the meeting was described by an attendee as encouraging.
In a statement, the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) said that for the first time, industry leaders were able to highlight the unique ability of the cruise community to implement and closely manage health protocols that include rigorous screening, testing, prevention, detection, surveillance, and response procedures in a highly controlled environment across the entire cruise experience.
