France’s Bastia maritime high school has announced the opening of an OCQPI training course, supervised by officers from Marseille-based ferry operator, Corsica Linea.
An announcement was made on 5th February, on social media.
This will be centred around the International Bridge Watch Officer (OCQPI) – Captain 3000 course.
Until now, the three-year training course was only available at ENSM in Le Havre.
Corsica Linea also announced that it will provide its own officers to supervise the training and that it will offer places on board its ships to the cadets.
The first two years of training will be held in Bastia with the last one at either ENSM’s facility in Le Havre or Marseille.
Twenty-four trainees are due to take the course in Bastia next year.
Corsica Linea confirmed it is renewing its partnership with the Lycée maritime de Bastia, initiated in 2016, donating equipment, organising internships, educational courses and financial support.
