UK quoted ports operator Global Ports Holding (GPH) has appointed Andy Stuart as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company with immediate effect.

Stuart was until recently President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line.

Board members Thierry Edmond Déau and Thomas Josef Maier stepped down as Independent Non-Executive Directors, at the 24th February Board meeting. They both decided not to stand for re-election at the next AGM, and agreed to step down early to allow new board members to join as soon as practically possible.

The process of appointing an additional Non-Executive Director, with experience in a UK Plc context is underway, GPH said.

Stuart worked for NCL for more than 30 years and prior to becoming President and CEO, he fulfilled a number of senior executive roles including COO and Executive Vice President, a role in which he oversaw global sales and passenger services.

Mehmet Kutman, GPH Chairman and Co-Founder, said: “I am delighted to welcome Andy Stuart to the Board. His vast experience of the cruise industry over a period of more than 30 years, makes him a valuable addition to the team. We look forward to benefiting from his insights as we continue the expansion of our cruise port business.

“On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Thierry and Thomas for their service and insight to the Board and the company during its early years as a UK Plc,” he said.

In addition, Mark Robinson is moving up to head up the company’s business development efforts in EMEA and Asia/Pacific.

As a result, Mert Basar has joined the company to take on the role of CCO. He was recently CCO of IGA- Istanbul Airport.

Commenting on these changes, CEO Emre Sayin, said: “I look forward to Mark’s input from his new and exciting role. I expect Mark’s wealth of cruise industry experience will prove to be invaluable to our business development aspirations in both EMEA and Asia/Pacific. I am also delighted to welcome Mert to our team. His experience and knowledge of commercial operations at such an important aviation hub will be invaluable in helping us deliver on our short and medium-term objectives for ancillary services across the business.”
