Swedish power equipment provider, Actemium has won another contract from the Port of Trelleborg to contribute to a project involving onshore power supply (PPP).
This fourth PPP project includes the delivery and installation of new onshore connections at berths Nos.10 and 11, as well as a significant modernisation of berths Nos. 8 and 9.
Actemium delivered the first land connection for ferry berths Nos. 8 and 9 in 2011.
The port authority had invested in the electrification of four more ferry berths over the years, which Actemium completed.
“The new assignment confirms that Actemium’s long-term and global strategy to support all the world’s ports in their environmental work is appreciated.
“We look forward to continuing our successful collaboration with the Port of Trelleborg and delivering high-quality and user-friendly PPP solutions that contribute to reduced emissions of, among other things, carbon dioxide and nitrogen and sulphur oxides,” said André Olofsson, Project Manager at Actemium.
The project is also an important part of the Port of Trelleborg’s environmental initiative ‘Baltic-Green-NET’, which has received EU co-financing.
A large part of the energy will be produced locally by two new wind turbines.
“Onshore power supply (PPP) is Actemium’s market-leading solution for electric shore connections of ships.
“Our Swedish PPP facilities are manufactured in Stora Höga and are built according to Swedish and international rules and norms and are certified according to IEC/ISO/IEEE 80005.
“In the projects, we are then responsible for ground and installation work, as well as remote monitoring, operation and maintenance.
“With success, we have so far delivered over 30 plants in the Nordic region, all adapted for sustainable power supply,” Olofsson concluded.
Zinus has secured the contract to supply Trelleborg’s high voltage cable management systems under an agreement with Actemium.
The company will deliver its latest SPP800 high voltage cable management systems (CMS) to Trelleborg and also to Klaipeda, Lithuania.
Zinus was contracted by Actemium to supply two high voltage cable management systems for ropaxes.
These CMS units, designed in accordance with IEC 80005-1, Annex B, will be utilised by TT-Line, one of the main ferry operators in the region.
In addition, Zinus has secured a contract with BLRT ERA, an Estonian engineering and shiprepair company, for the delivery of four high voltage cable management systems to be used by ropaxes at Klaipeda.
The units, also compliant with IEC 80005-1, Annex B, will be deployed to service vessels operated by DFDS and TT-Line.
With TT-Line operating on the Trelleborg/Klaipeda route, the company will now benefit from Zinus’ advanced shore power solutions at both ends of its operations, reinforcing a commitment to reducing emissions and increasing energy efficiency in the Baltic Sea region, the company claimed.
