The last unit of bankrupt Genting Hong Kong, the 150,700 gt, 2017-built, cruise ship ‘World Dream’, has been renamed ’Manara’ in Singapore by purchaser Saudi Cruise.
Her registry was also changed from The Bahamas to the Marshall Islands and she is now believed to be managed by Columbia.
Cruise Saudi is owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. Its CEO, Lars Clasen confirmed the vessel’s purchase in a recent media statement and also said that she would undergo a refit.
Singapore’s High Court had listed the cruise ship among the assets sold as of 24th February. She was taken over by the Singapore court in May, 2022, following Genting’s bankruptcy.
She was originally arrested by KfW IPEX-Bank in March, 2022. The bank had financed her construction at Meyer Werft.
