Fincantieri subsidiary Vard Holdings has firmed up contracts for the design and construction of two cruises ships for Viking Cruises.

The total contract value is about NOK5 bill ($611 mill).

A Letter of Intent for the vessels was signed in April, 2018 and the contracts for two vessels have now become firm, Vard said.

No details of the vessels were forthcoming as ICSI went to press.

Delivery of the vessels is scheduled from Vard in Norway, in 2Q21 and 2Q22 respectively. The hulls will be built in the shipbuilder’s Romanian yard.
