On 7th March, Luebeck-based ferry operator TT-Line took delivery of the first of two LNG-powered ropaxes – ‘Nils Holgersson’.
She was built by Chinese shipbuilder CMI Jinling and the vessel is currently on her way to Travemuende, near Luebeck, where she will start operations on T-T Line’s Baltic routes.
Each of the new vessels is of 230 m in length and 31 m beam and can accommodate 800 passengers and over 200 trucks and trailers.
The ships are fitted with MAN’s dual-fuel, diesel-engines. While operating on LNG, the ropaxes will reduce their emissions by 50%, compared to the company’s previous vessels, T-T Line claimed.
The previous ‘Nils Holgersson’ was renamed ‘Akka’ in January, 2022.
