Germany-based ferry company, TT-Line has placed an order for a dual fuel LNG powered ferry at Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Jinling.
The contract includes an option for another ropax and calls for the delivery of the first vessel in 2022. Following her delivery, the vessel would be used within TT-Line’s network in the Baltic.
TT-Line said that the 230 m long vessel would be optimised for efficiency and flexibility. Compared to the previous generation of ropaxes, the new vessel will reduce her emissions by more than 50%, while still maintaining speed.
“TT-Line will set a new standard in terms of cutting harmful emissions by choosing LNG as a fuel for the innovative TT-Line Green Ship. This innovative and future-oriented TT-Line Green Ship will be the most environmentally friendly ropax ship in our trading area,” Bernhard Termühlen, TT-Line Managing Director, said.
She has been designed to carry 800 pax and more than 200 trucks and trailers.
