Carnival Cruise Line is to drydock the ‘Carnival Vista’ at Grand Bahama Dockyard at Freeport, Bahamas.

She is due to be taken out of service on 9th July to repair her damaged ABB azipods

Carnival said it was working with azipod manufacturer ABB, to complete the repairs and return the ship to service on 27thJuly.

The cruise company said it was also completing negotiations and planning with a shipping vessel operator on a protocol that will be a first-of-its-kind procedure to facilitate the repair, given the current lack of facilities at Grand Bahama Shipyard.

The shipyard suffered damage to one of its large floating docks when a crane collapsed on a cruise ship.

Carnival said that more information on the procedure will be forthcoming, but plans were in place to complete the work and return ‘Carnival Vista’ to Galveston for the scheduled 27thJuly sailing.
