Chantiers de l’Atlantique has selected Oslo-based TMC Compressors to supply the marine compressed air system for two LNG powered cruise yachts under construction at St Nazaire.
Under the contract, TMC Compressors will supply a complete marine compressed air system to each of the two newbuilding yachts. Each system will include control and service air compressors with associated air treatment system.
The two vessels’ dual-fuel propulsion system will use LNG as the primary fuel (marine gasoil secondary).
“We see that consumers’ expectations to sustainable cruising is on the rise and the industry is responding to this with more focus on sustainability in their vessel designs. As a company that started developing emission-reducing technologies two decades ago, this is a development we are delighted to see,” says Tom Erik Ranheim, TMC’s Customer Relationship Manager.
TMC will manufacture and assemble the marine compressed air system at its facilities the Nordic region and deliver it to Chantiers de l’Atlantique at St Nazaire.
“Our technicians are constantly chasing ways to lower energy usage, lower emissions and lower operating costs from the compressed air system. We are really pleased that Chantiers de l’Atlantique recognises this through this contract award,” Ranheim added.
Delivery of the two large yachts is scheduled for 2024 and 2025, respectively.
