Stena RoRo has placed an order for another newbuilding in its‘Stena E-Flexer RoPax’series with the Chinese shipyard, AVIC International.
This order is in addition to the eight newbuildings already contracted. There are still two options remaining.
The vessel, which will operate on LNG, has been ordered on the back of a long-term charter with Brittany Ferries and will be deliveredin autumn 2023.
Brittany Ferries has taken three of the series on long term charters, two of which will operate on LNG. The keel of the first vessel was laid in January of this year.
“We are very pleased to have placed another order with the AVIC shipyard, with which we have had a very positive co-operation over the last three years. The shipyard has been able to meet our demands for flexibility and thereby enabled us to serve our customers with tailormade products. The newly signed third charter contract with Brittany Ferries is a further proof of this,”said Per Westling, Stena RoRo CEO.
The Stena E-Flexer LNG series will have a length of 214.5 m, a beam of 27.8 m and a depth of 6.4 m.
Their capacity will be 2,750 lane m, 1,000 pax and they will be fitted with 340 cabins.
