In response to strong market demand, for the first time, this year’s SMM exhibition and conference will provide a significant amount of space to interior equipment and furnishings for ferries and cruise ships.

In addition, a ‘Cruise Route’ will be added to the 2018 SMM list of theme-based fair itineraries helping visitors find exhibitors of specific interest.

From 4th to 7th September, 2018, more than 2,200 exhibitors from 69 countries, including major players participating for the first time, the fair halls’ 90,000 sq m of exhibition space is fully booked months in advance.

The number of national pavilions has increased once again, with Panama, Estonia and Columbia each represented by a dedicated pavilion. The Japanese shipyard association JSEA has also requested a 50% enlargement of its exhibition space.

With a rich conference programme and a featured topic on each day of the fair, SMM will give answers to the most urgent questions of the maritime sector. True to the leitmotif of ‘Trends in SMMart Shipping’, digitalisation will again be among the common themes.

For example, software-based efficiency-enhancement solutions will be presented in Hall A5, which will be dedicated to green propulsion. Cybersecurity, an important aspect of maritime security, will be featured in Hall B8.
More than 2.200 exhibitors and roughly 50,000 visitors are expected to attend the trade fair in Hamburg.
