Atlas Ocean Voyages has appointed Rene Serphos to the post of Vice President of Finance, Planning and Administration.
In his new role, Serphos (pictured) is responsible for all aspects of finance, IT and human resources for Atlas’ US headquarters.
He also serves as a key liaison to Mystic Invest, the brand’s Portugal-based parent company, providing financial reporting and updates.
Serphos has 18 years of cruise experience under his belt. Most recently, he was Controller and Vice President of Accounting for Paradise Cruise Line Management, marketed as Margaritaville at Sea.
Previous cruise posts include corporate hotel controller for Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival Cruise Lines.
“Rene’s diverse finance background, complemented by his many years in the cruise sector will prove invaluable to supporting our profitability goals and objectives,” said James Rodriguez, Atlas Ocean’s President and CEO. “We are glad to have him on our US-based senior management team.”
In addition, Atlas Ocean Voyages has announced the delivery of its new 200-pax ‘World Traveller’, which will be officially named on 20th November.
The handover ceremony took place on 7th October, 2022 on board the vessel at the West Sea shipyard in Portugal where she was built.
From Portugal, the ship will sail to Ushuaia, Argentina, where she will be based for Antarctica expedition voyages.
‘World Traveller’ is the second vessel in the Atlas Ocean Voyages fleet joining sistership ‘World Navigator’.
Both ships will be named at a unique dual naming ceremony at Chile’s Garibaldi Glacier.
Following a series of expeditions to Antarctica, ‘World Traveller’ repositions via the Canary Islands to Europe for seven to 10-day voyages. Home ports will include Seville, Lisbon, Barcelona, Nice and Civitavecchia.
She is Polar Category C- and Ice Class 1B-certified expedition cruise ship and was designed as a stylish, intimate yacht-style vessel.
