Newly formed Croatian shipbuilding concern, MKM Yachts, is to outfit the ‘Scenic Eclipse II’.

MKM is owned by the Scenic Group, which agreed to take a sub-concession on Rijeka, Croatia’s 3 Maj shipyard where the steel cutting ceremony was held for the new Polar expedition yacht on 24th April.

Scenic also confirmed that the company is planning to build a total of five Polar yachts at the yard.

3 Maj, which is reportedly no longer part of bankrupt Pula-based Uljanik, will fabricate the sections, build the hull and fit the main machinery, while MKM Yachts will cater for her outfitting and the vessel’s completion at its dedicated section of the shipyard after she is launched scheduled for the first quarter of 2021.

The Croatian Government is supporting the redevelopment of the shipyard and is assisting with the funding of Scenic’s expanded newbuilding programme.

Uljanik’s Pula yard built the first of Scenic’s mega yachts, the ‘Scenic Eclipse’ but needed rescuing to complete the vessel.
