Royal Caribbean is to upgrade’ Oasis of the Seas’ later this year.
The 10th anniversary of her launch will see a $165 mill project that will add several new venues, including a few new to the fleet.
She will become the first ‘Oasis’class ship to be refurbished as part of RCCL’s‘Royal Amplified’ fleet modernisation plan.
‘Oasis of the Seas’ will sail on 24thNovember, 2019, on seven night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from RCCL’s newTerminal A at Miami. She will then reposition to Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, in May, 2020 to become the largest ship to sail from the New York area.
The 63-day modernisation programme will include a number of new changes.
These include – Top Deck –
The pool deck will get a makeover with a new Caribbean-style area that includes The Lime & Coconut. This signature bar was first added to ‘Navigator of the Seas’. The pools will offer a larger variety of seating and shade, including casitas, daybeds, hammocks and swing seats, new whirlpools and a refreshed adults Solarium.
A 10-story Ultimate Abyss slide will be added, along with three waterslides known as The Perfect Storm.
Children will be able to take advantage of Splashaway Bay, including a Splash Pad for toddlers, that will feature three waterslides, water cannons, fountains, pools and the first-ever twin drench buckets.
Dining –
‘Oasis of the Seas’ will expand her dining offerings with new options, including RCCL’s first barbecue restaurant, Portside BBQ.
In addition, El Loco Fresh will offer made-to-order tacos and burritos, quesadillas, mini salads and salsas.
Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade will be added to the Boardwalk area. With 80 big-screen TVs, tabletop games, arcade classics, tournaments, an owner’s box VIP room, bar fare and ice-cold drinks,
Sugar Beach will have more than 220 types of sweets and a new walk-up ice cream window
She will still offer Chops Grille, Giovanni’s Table and Izumi.
Entertainment –
A new venue will be included to the Royal Promenade – Spotlight Karaoke. The venue will have a main stage, as well as two private rooms.
‘Oasis of the Seas’ will also have a ‘Quantum’class favourite added -Music Hall. This area will include live cover bands, an expansive dance floor, pool tables and loungers across two decks.
Bionic Bar will also be added alongside existing spots, such as Boleros, Schooner Bar, Blaze Nightclub & Comedy and English pub Atlas & Globe.
Royal Caribbean is also redesigning the dedicated spaces for babies, teens and children
