Digital communications company netTALK has announced a partnership with Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL).
As a member of the cruise line’s mobile app development team, netTALK has provided software in support of the creation of NCL’s new app – Cruise Norwegian.

netTALK is now giving passengers on board NCL’s Miami based ‘Norwegian Sky’ access to its global communications network and mobile apps.

This app has been developed to help cruise guests make the most of their vacation by better connecting them with happenings on board and keeping them in touch with friends and family, both on board and ashore, by using their smart devices.

It features a multitude of functions to help provide a stress-free vacation experience, helping guests make the most of their time on and off the ship, as well as stay connected with their friends and family both on board and back home.
Once on board, guests can connect to the ship’s wifi network to use the complimentary Cruise Norwegian app to stay up-to-date on what’s happening on board and make reservations for dining, entertainment and shore excursions.
netTALK specifically partnered with NCL to provide the technology to support the Cruise Norwegian App’s voice and chat functionality. Guests can stay connected with friends and family on board with the app’s unlimited on board calls and messages for a one-time fee of $9.95 for the entire cruise.

“I’m proud of our strong partnership with Norwegian Cruise Line and the shared vision of both our teams to empower passengers with cutting edge communication technology on Norwegian’s mobile app,” said Anastasios (Takis) Kyriakides, netTALK CEO.

Those wishing to check-in with people back home can also make calls through the Cruise Norwegian app for a nominal fee of $0.79 per minute (versus most cellular roaming cruise plans from the wireless carriers charging several dollars per minute) for outbound calls to nearly every country in the world. Both landline and mobile phones worldwide may be contacted using the app.

“It’s been a pleasure to partner with netTALK to bring our guests closer together while enjoying all of the exciting amenities our ships offer,” Rob Casas, NCL’s senior vice president of E-commerce. “Using netTALK’s advanced communications technology we are now able to bring the communications comforts of home to sea, with enhanced offerings like group and picture messaging, among other new developments.”

As mentioned, the new app has already been rolled out on ‘Norwegian Sky’ and will be available on board NCL’s newest ship, ‘Norwegian Bliss’, when she is delivered in the summer of this year.
