Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) is to integrate two wholly owned ferry and coastal ro-ro vessel operating companies into MOL Sunflower Ltd.
The new company brings together MOL Ferry Co, Ltd and Ferry Sunflower Limited.
It will continue with the ‘Sunflower’ brand, which has been a part of Japan’s logistics for half a century and continues to offer cruise travel.
MOL Sunflower will begin operations on 1st October, offering enhanced services as Japan’s largest ferry and coastal ro-ro vessel operator, with six regular routes and 15 vessels in service.
In April, 2023, MOL established the Headquarters of Wellbeing & Lifestyle Business as an organisational structure to support the expansion of its non-shipping businesses.
MOL placed the ferry and coastal ro-ro vessel business, which has a strong business-to-consumer (BtoC) operation, as well as real property, cruise ship, and other businesses within the new division.
