More news has been announced regarding the upgrades to AIDA’s ‘Sphinx class cruise ships.
After ‘AIDAdiva’, the shipyard schedules for the next two Sphinx-class ships have now been agreed.
As part of ‘AIDA Evolution’, the largest fleet modernisation programme in the company’s history, as already mentioned in ICSI’s previous news roundups, the first three ships of the ‘Sphinx’ series will be extensively modernised by 2026.
The first ship, ‘AIDAdiva’, will visit the Chantier Naval shipyard in Marseille, France, from 3rd February to 22nd March, 2025.
The drydocking periods for the next two ships in Marseille are: ‘AIDAluna’ between 22nd October and 10th December, 2025, followed by ‘AIDAbella’ from 21st January to 11th March, 2026.
During the seven-week overhaul, the focus will be on upgrading the ship’s technology and providing an even greater variety of experiences, services and comfort on board, AIDA said.
Popular concepts from the latest AIDA generation of cruise ships will also be incorporated in this series.
All of the guest staterooms will receive a new look. In addition, the number of suites will be increased. In addition, exclusive areas and services will be created for the first time on this ship class.
On the culinary side, a greater variety of restaurants and better service will be offered. Popular signature bars will also be added.
The Theatrium will be redesigned with new seating and a harmonious colour scheme. New activity areas will be created specifically for families with children.
The ‘Sphinx’ series entered service between 2007 and 2013. Their innovative and open space concept and design significantly shaped the AIDA experience, the Carnival brand claimed.
