P&O’s newbuilding ‘Iona’ has returned to Bremerhaven following a drydocking at Damen’s facility in Botlek, Rotterdam.
She underwent inspection work prior to her handover to P&O Cruises from Meyer Werft.
‘Iona’ sailed from Bremerhaven to Rotterdam having had her final equipment and provisions put on board in the German port following her river passage from Papenburg.
On her voyage to Rotterdam some sea trials were also undertaken.
Meyer Werft said the 50th cruise ship built was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the yard, along with local officials and the port of Bremerhaven were able to co-operate to continue to work on the ship under various protective measures.
P&O is expected to take delivery of the ‘Iona’ in mid-June, however, her maiden cruise has not been announced thus far, due to company’s operations suspension until at least the middle of October
