Intercruises Shoreside & Port Services is recategorising its shore excursion portfolio.

This move is intended to strengthen product development focus worldwide on creating experiences customised to different cruise brands and their guests.

“The cruise industry is ever more diverse, both in terms of the cruise guest demographic and the type of cruise vacation. Our new shorex categories are a reflection of this industry evolution and will enable us to better serve cruise lines and their guests,” claimed Olga Piqueras, Intercruises Managing Director (pictured).

Intercruises worldwide product experts were involved during all stages of the category development in order to capture information on current and emerging trends from over 50 countries.

The company now has five main shorex categories: ‘Active & Adventure’; ‘History & Culture’; ‘Hobbies & Learning’; ‘Leisure & Well-Being’ and ‘Local Immersion’. The main categories are divided into 22 subcategories, such as ‘Local Insight’, ‘Great Outdoors’ and ‘VIP Access’.

“These categories are a framework to better align all Intercruises product teams worldwide and ensure we continue to develop innovative, original and valuable experiences. We listened to feedback from cruise lines and our local teams and this is just one of a number of actions we are taking to enhance the guest experience and support greater participation rates,” added Carmen Morosan, Global Shore Excursions Manager.
