More than 18 cruise ship interiors design experts representing cruise lines and design  firms will be sharing their expertise at the forthcoming CSI Design Expo Americas.

The two day expo will take place on 6th and 7th June at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

On the second day of the show, CSI’s Conference & Workshop programme, which is certified by the International Design Continuing Education Council  (IDCEC) and partnered with NEWH, will offer extensive insights into the industry’s current and future talking points.

The programme will cover a range of topics, including story telling in design, visual brand identity and understanding the next generation of cruise goers, whilst providing an opportunity to hear tips from industry leaders within this niche market, the organisers, Elite Exhibitions said.

Among the speakers will be Sascha Lang, Vice President, Architectural & Design, Newbuild & Innovation at Royal Caribbean Cruises; Jennie Drummond, Head of Art at SMC Design; Willie Trager, Design Manager, Interior Asset Management at Holland America Group, plus Christopher Stubbs, AVP Sailor (Customer) and Crew (Employee) Experience at Virgin Voyages.

This year, the CSI conference will be delivered in a new format. It will feature a combination of keynote speeches and workshop sessions, themed on learning and development, all of which will  take place on the second day of the event instead of being spread across two days as in previous years.

This will offer a more interactive programme, which will allow for a full day of uninterrupted knowledge sharing, the organisers explained.

Each accredited session will be tailored to suit all players across the cruise interiors supply chain.

For example, this year’s sessions will include Marine Design 101, where industry newcomers will be able to submit their questions to a panel of CSI Advisory Board members.

This will provide a unique opportunity for companies to break into the lucrative industry, guided by experts. In addition, the returning keynote, Leaders Debate – State of the Industry, will explore  the biggest trends and opportunities facing the industry from sustainable sourcing to taking corporate responsibility, led by design experts from leading cruise lines and design firms.

Design focused sessions that will inspire and help designers to upskill and take their projects to the next level, include Spaces: Supporting guest Experience Using Visuals, Branding & Artwork and A Tale of Design.

At this session, the panel will share their thoughts on how to create emotional connections with guests through design story telling, and will feature Trisha Poole, President at Design Poole and past NEWH International President. She is an award-winning design visionary who crafts projects that tell stories through thoughtful, interpretive design.

CSI Design Expo Americas is the world’s only exhibition and conference exclusively dedicated to connecting the buyers and suppliers of the cruise design industry.
