Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) has placed an order with Novenco Marine & Offshore to design, deliver and commission full HVAC/R systems for a ropax to be built for Algerian shipping company ENTMV together with two, option two DFDS ropaxes.

On 4th September, the Chinese shipbuilding company and the Danish supplier signed the contract at the Danish Pavilion at SMM 2018.

“First of all, I am proud to cooperate with Danish companies, which I have done for many years. Secondly, the HVAC/R package is extremely important when building passenger vessels, and it is quite different from standard merchant solutions. The recent ropax ferry projects was awarded to Novenco Marine & Offshore because of their extensive knowhow and proven reliable solutions related to HVAC/R for passenger vessels,” said GSI’s William Zhou.

“The recent ferry orders are a result of many years of co-operation with GSI, but also an increased focus on strengthening the commercial ties between China and Denmark in general. Both GSI and Novenco participated in the Denmark Days a year ago, where HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark joined an event in Guangzhou.

“This national support benefits companies in Denmark like Novenco, because even though shipbuilding is outsourced to China, many of the related deliveries will be awarded back to Danish companies,” said Novenco’s Lasse Lindberg Nielsen.

The ropax for ENTMV is expected to be delivered in September, 2020, and Danish OSK-ShipTech is behind the design. The two plus two DFDS ropaxes each include 300 cabin units with MicroVent VAV systems. Deltamarin is designing the ships.

The vessels delivery are scheduled for February, 2021 to February, 2022.
