It has been widely reported that French interests have snapped up the former Holland America Line cruise ship, ’Maasdam’.

French media has reported that a Marseilles-based startup company, Compagnie Française de Croisières (CFC), has renamed the ship ‘Renaissance’, following her purchase from Greek-based Seajets for around $30 mill.

The report also revealed that CFC is backed by Clément Mousset and Cédric Rivoire Perrochat, both of whom were behind CMV’s failed French cruise venture before the pandemic.

The executives plan to reveal details of the new cruise line at a press conference next month, French media said.

‘Maasdam’ was one of several redundant cruise ships purchased by Greek ferry operator Seajets for knock down prices, due to being made idle by the pandemic.

She was renamed ‘Aegean Myth’ and laid up in Piraeus.
