The US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) is seeking public comment on a proposed rule to amend its regulations governing non-performance by passenger vessel operators (PVO/cruise lines).
In addition, the FMC plans to establish new requirements for when cruise passengers should be provided refunds for cancelled or delayed voyages.
These include the definition of non-performance, regulations allowing passengers to make direct claims against financial responsibility instruments maintained to PVOs, and eligibility of fees to be refunded.
The public comment period ends on 25th October, 2021.
