Disney Cruise Line has revealed plans for the ‘Disney Dream’s’ forthcoming drydocking.
After spending the summer season in Europe, ‘Disney Dream’ will undertake a drydocking ahead of her scheduled 20th October Westbound Transatlantic cruise.
The upgrades include an enhanced Oceaneer Club and a new funnel suite to a new concierge lounge, revamped spa, and a cantina to get some tacos.
‘Disney Dream’s’ forward funnel is to be completely transformed into the Dream Tower Suite.
In homage to the ‘Disney Dream’s’ stern character, Sorcerer Mickey, the new, two-story funnel suite will be themed to the classic Walt Disney Animation Studios film, ‘Fantasia,’ and its sequence, ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’.
Full of gilded features that reflect the ‘Disney Dream’s’ art deco motif, this suite will immerse guests in Sorcerer Mickey’s magic, including celestial-inspired surroundings, carpet design inspired by flowing water, and a chandelier reminiscent of his famous control of the waves, Disney Cruises said.
Concierge guests will enter an expanded lounge, a new space inspired by the Disney Animation film, ‘Hercules,’ and Mount Olympus.
The lounge will have light, airy details and rich colours inspired by the clouds of Mount Olympus, with hints of bright gold evoking the gates to the kingdom of the gods.
The Oceaneer Club and EDGE will both see significant changes during the Disney Dream’s 2024 drydocking. A modern lab, thanks to members of the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB), will be fitted into the club.
With the Funnel Suite taking over, Edge will relocate to Deck 5. Edge, the ‘tween club for guests ages 11-14, will see new features, including access to an outdoor deck with a ball pit and recreational games. Edge will also include a club lounge and dance floor.
Finally, Senses Spa & Salon will be refreshed with a new check-in area, and will be expanded to include new treatment rooms.
‘Disney Dream’ will complete her 2024 European season on 15th September, 2025, before spending just over a month at a repair yard, where the ship will undergo routine maintenance, along with the upgrades.
On 20th October, the ship will sail on a 13-night Westbound Transatlantic cruise from Southampton ending in Fort Lauderdale.
