Last month, the Cayman Islands tourism ministry awarded the cruise and cargo port project tender to the McAlpine-led consortium, Verdant Isle Port Partners.

The island’s Premier, Alden McNee McLaughlin Jr, MBE said when making the announcement that no contracts would be signed before 1st October to “allow for the completion of the people-initiated petition verification” process.

In addition to McAlpine, Verdant Isle Port Partners comprises Orion Marine Construction (formerly Miesner Marine), Carnival Corp and Royal Caribbean Cruises.

No details about the re-design or the cost were revealed.
