Dr Luis Guarin (pictured), Head of Marine Consultancy Services at Brookes Bell is to participate in a damage control and stability panel discussion at the Seatrade Cruise Global Conference at the Miami Beach Convention Centre, Miami, Florida, on 11th April.
The conference programme consists of four days (8th-11th April) of panel discussions, keynote speeches and learning sessions to enable the cruising sector to stay updated with best practice and to remain at the forefront of exponential industry growth.
Dr Guarin has worked extensively on the development and implementation of risk assessment techniques in the evaluation of ship safety. He has been involved in newbuilding design projects of innovative cruise vessels and will concentrate on ‘Safe Return to Port’ at the Miami conference.
He said: “Seatrade Global represents the voice of the cruising industry and the panel discussion provides me with the opportunity to discuss the concept of Safe Return to Port (SRtP) and how the ship is its own best lifeboat. I look forward to discussing how design and operational focus should be aimed at saving stricken vessels.”
