Polynesian based Aranui Cruises has confirmed it is adding a second ship ‘Aranoa’ to its operation which is due for delivery in 2027.
Similar to the previous vessels in the fleet down the years, ‘Aranoa’ will be a passenger/cargo vessel to supply the South Pacific islands.
“Aranui Cruises’ ‘Aranoa’ will soon embark on its primary mission: supplying the remote Austral Islands and its residents with the provisions needed most, while also showcasing for our guests the magnificent, untouched and breathtaking islands,” said Eric Wong, Aranui Cruises’ Executive Vice President.
Named after the Tahitian word ‘awakening’, the 93 cabin ‘Aranoa’ will be able to accommodate 198 pax, and will be fitted with two restaurants, two bars, two whirlpools, and a boutique, fitness and spa centre, plus an on board tattoo salon.
Aranui Cruises operates itineraries to the Islands of the Marquesas, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Region. Its current ship, ‘Aranui 5’, is a custom-built, dual-purpose passenger and cargo ship that was delivered in 2015.
Founded in 1959, Aranui has evolved from a cargo shipping line serving the remote Marquesas Islands to a passenger/cargo ship operator that provides trips to French Polynesia.
Currently, ‘Aranui 5’ sails the remote islands of Tahiti to the Marquesas, Society Islands, and beyond.
“We’re not just expanding our company and total number of vessels, we’re expanding our impact on the island communities that mean the most to our company,” Wong added.
“The Austral Islands are certainly a ‘land unknown’ and it’s our honour and privilege to bring passengers on an authentic, culture-rich adventure they’ll never forget.”
