Phoenix Reisen’s newly acquired cruise ship ‘Amera’ has left a Blohm + Voss floating dock in Hamburg, following a six-week rebuild.
The ex ‘Prinsendam’ left the dock last weekend and was due to be christened late last week.
The 38,000 gt, 800-pax ship was built as the ‘Royal Viking Sun’ in 1988 before becoming the ‘Seabourn Sun’ and then HAL’s ‘Prinsendam’ in 2002.
Phoenix Reisen also operates the 1973-built ‘Albatros’, formerly ‘Royal Viking Sea’; the 1991-built ‘Amadea’, ex ‘Asuka’; and the 1984-built ‘Artania’, ex ‘Royal Princess’.
In addition, the German cruise ship operator charters the 1998-built ‘Deutschland’ on a seasonal basis through 2025 and also has a worldwide fleet of riverboats.
