Finnish based, Elomatic, a consulting and engineering company, has signed a delivery contract with Carnival Corp for the installation of its Elogrid™ tunnel thruster technology.
The tunnel thrusters will be fitted on board Carnival Corp’s ‘XL’ class fleet, including nine retrofittings and two newbuildings.
The installation programme will begin in Autumn, 2025 and continue through to 2028, aligned with the vessels’ scheduled drydockings.
This contract represents a major milestone in the deployment of Elomatic’s Elogrid technology, the company claimed.
For the ‘XL’ class cruise vessels, whether installed on newbuildings or retrofited, Elogrid delivers measurable benefits across key performance areas, including reduced fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. It also reduces the impact on vessel manoeuvrability, compared to traditional grids, supporting safe and efficient operations.
