The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Co (ASRY) has announced the signing of two agreements with Italian companies during the recent visit of the Italian Prime Minister HE Giorgia Meloni to Bahrain.
The collaboration agreements were signed at ASRY’s Hidd headquarters, with Italian Ambassador HE Andrea Catalano, senior executives, and representatives from the Economic Development Board (EDB) in attendance.
One of the agreements involved Genoa-based DE Wave, a company involved in cruise ship and yacht maintenance, repairs, and systems development.
This partnership will see ASRY work towards bringing cruise ships to Bahrain for repairs and conversions, while benefiting from DE Wave’s technical and project management expertise.
ASRY CEO, Dr Ahmed AlAbri, said, ‘We’re proud to broaden our international partnerships, particularly with the friendly Republic of Italy.
“Our aim is to attract outside expertise, build new business connections, diversify our services, and stay up to date with the latest in maritime industry technologies and practices,” he said.
He emphasised that these collaborations were part of ASRY’s efforts to strengthen its capabilities and cement its status as a global leader in maritime services.
Dr AlAbri also thanked the EDB for their ongoing support, which has been instrumental in connecting ASRY with global organisations. He noted that such partnerships have a positive impact on both the company and Bahrain’s economy.
